We didn’t have an issue of Shoreline of Infinity SF magazine ready for Cymera, so at the last minute I thought it’d be a brilliant wheeze to publish a newspaper.
Thus The SF Caledonian.
It started out as a leaflet to alert folk to SF Caledonia, which, after all is an all online project. But I couldn’t help myself.
The SF Caledonian morphed into a 12 page full colour tabloid newspaper featuring some of the stories published on SF Caledonia, and also showcasing the winning story of the annual Cymera/Shoreline of Infinity short story competition for Scottish writers.

The winning story is Forgetting is Their Word for Death written by Paul McQuade. The newspaper format is ideal for showing off and talking about SF Caledonia, and at Cymera, it fair flew off the table and into curious folks’ hands.
Partly funded by Cymera Festival (bless you), we were able to hand it out for free, and we received a lot of praise and good vibes for publishing it.
The question is, do we continue with this idea?
Do we publish a regular edition and pop it into your letter box from time to time? If you picked up a copy at Cymera, please let us know.

We still have a few copies remaining, so if you are interested in receiving a copy head over to the Shoreline shop and for a small payment we’ll pop one in the post to you.
Your thoughts and suggestions would be welcome.
